BASIC GPA CALCULATION

Select Input Type

  • Letter Grades: Use A+, A, A-, B+, B, etc.
  • Percentage: Enter numerical grades

Enter Course Information For each course

  • Course Name: Name of the course (optional)
  • Grade: Your grade in the course
  • Credits: Credit hours for the course

Add or Remove Courses

  • Click “+ Add Course” to add more courses
  • Click “×” to remove any course

View Results:

  • Total Credits: Sum of all credit hours
  • GPA: Your calculated Grade Point Average

WEIGHTED GPA CALCULATION

  1. Enable “Enable Weighted GPA” checkbox
  2. For each course, select Course Type:
  • Regular: No bonus (standard 4.0 scale)
  • Honours: +0.5 bonus points
  • IB: +1.0 bonus points
  • AP: +1.0 bonus points
  • College: +0.5 bonus points

The calculator automatically applies the appropriate multiplier

ADDING CUMULATIVE GPA

  1. Enable “Add Previous Cumulative GPA” checkbox
  2. Enter Your Previous Information:
  • Previous Cumulative GPA: Your GPA before this semester
  • Previous Credits Earned: Total credits completed before this semester

The calculator combines your previous GPA with current courses

CALCULATING TARGET GPA

  1. Enable “Calculate Target GPA” checkbox
  2. Enter Target Information:
  • Target GPA: The GPA you want to achieve
  • Additional Credits to Take: How many more credits you plan to take

View Required GPA:

  • Shows the GPA you need to maintain in future courses

Example 1: Basic GPA Calculation (Letter Grades)
Math 101 (A, 3 credits) = 4.0
English 102 (B+, 3 credits) = 3.3
History 201 (A-, 4 credits) = 3.7
Science 105 (B, 3 credits) = 3.0

Example 2: Basic GPA Calculation (Percentages)
Math (95%, 3 credits) = 4.0

Example 3: Weighted GPA
AP Calculus (A, 4 credits, AP) = 5.0 (4.0 + 1.0)

IB Biology (A, 4 credits, IB) = 5.0 (4.0 + 1.0)

  • Most colleges use a 4.0 unweighted scale
  • Weighted GPA can exceed 4.0 (up to 5.0)

4.0: Perfect – All A’s
3.5-3.9: Excellent – Mostly A’s
3.0-3.4: Good – Mostly B’s
2.5-2.9: Average – B’s and C’s
2.0-2.4: Below Average – Mostly C’s
Below 2.0: Poor – C’s and below

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • Make sure all grades are valid (A+ through F)
  • Enter credit hours for all courses
  • Percentages should be between 0 and 100
  • If using cumulative GPA, enter both previous GPA and credits
  • For target GPA, enter both target and additional credits
  • The calculator only includes courses with credits > 0
